Martin Luther King Jr was one of the great visionaries of the 60's. Dr King was able to inspire many people with his words and even more with his actions. King was a great leader because the way that he lead his people was somewhat different than what people had expected. His belief was that the best way to get people to notice what he was doing was to do non violent protests. This was unique for the time because only one other person had done a successful job with it and that was Gandhi. If it had not been for King's non violent protests and his great leadership many people may not have gained the freedom that they had so long desired.
